ASAS Group: Tanzania’s Legacy in Transport & Dairy, Expanding with Innovation
History & Growth of ASAS Group of Companies
The ASAS Group of Companies is one of the oldest and largest business groups in Tanzania. It was originally founded as A.S. ABRI Transporters in 1936 in Iringa, Tanzania, by Mr. A.S. Abri. He started with a single truck, addressing transportation challenges at the time. Through his vision and dedication, the business expanded, and in 1978, ASAS was officially formed as a group of companies, diversifying beyond transportation into new ventures.
Expansion into the Dairy Industry
In 2000, ASAS DAIRIES LTD was established in Iringa, Tanzania, initially producing 1,000 liters of milk per day. Due to increasing demand, the company has grown significantly, now producing over 350,000 liters of milk per day.
Commitment to Public Health & Innovation
Originally, ASAS Dairies was founded to combat high incidences of stunting among the Iringa population. Over time, it has transformed into an internationally recognized dairy brand. Despite its success, ASAS remains committed to its original mission of promoting public health.
Future Growth & Innovation
To meet increasing demand, ASAS is expanding its production lines and enhancing yogurt cup packaging. This will improve both production capacity and product quality, ensuring continued growth in the dairy industry.
