ASAS Dairies Calls for Urgent Road Improvements to Save Farmers’ Milk and Strengthen Tanzania’s Dairy Sector
ASAS Dairies Supports Call for Improved Transport Infrastructure to Empower Smallholder Dairy Farmers
An article recently published by The Citizen has brought much-needed attention to a pressing issue faced by smallholder dairy farmers across Tanzania—the lack of dependable transport infrastructure. At ASAS Dairies Farm, we have seen firsthand the damaging consequences of inadequate road networks on dairy production and farmer livelihoods.
For many smallholder farmers, transporting fresh milk to processing facilities remains a daily challenge. Due to poorly maintained roads and the absence of reliable transport options, large quantities of milk often spoil before reaching the factory. This not only causes significant financial loss for farmers but also undermines the overall efficiency and sustainability of the dairy industry.
In the article, our owner, Mr. Fuad Abri, underscored the importance of infrastructure development, calling for urgent action to address these challenges. He emphasized that better roads are not just about logistics—they are a lifeline for farmers. Improved road access means enhanced milk quality, reduced wastage, increased productivity, and, most importantly, better incomes for those who work tirelessly to supply dairy across the country.
At ASAS Dairies, we stand in full support of this call. We believe that with the right infrastructure investments, Tanzania’s dairy sector can reach new heights. By working together—farmers, private sector partners, and government institutions—we can build a more resilient supply chain that benefits everyone involved.
We remain committed to partnering with stakeholders at every level to champion sustainable solutions that improve the flow of dairy from farm to factory to consumer—ensuring that no drop of milk goes to waste, and no farmer is left behind.
